It may not be a secret to any of my friends and family that I absolutely adore Liverpool. It’s a vibrant city with something creative always happening, and new things appearing amongst its maritime heritage. Plus there are so many restaurants and bars to choose from, you’re really spoilt for choice.
Mixing its maritime heritage and the food element is the Maritime Dining Rooms, situated on the fourth floor of the Maritime Museum on the Royal Albert Dock. It has stunning views over the Albert Dock and River Mersey, and they put on regular special events.
I was kindly invited by Pink Media & Hosted By NML to one of their Sunday Roasts, as part of their special events series – gluten free of course.
Their Sunday Lunch does requite pre-booking tickets for, and they have selected dates until the end of September as it’s part of their special events series. It’s £19.95pp and it beats queuing for a carvery, and you get a fantastic two courses served with Prosecco!
Before arriving, I notified them of my Coeliac disease, and was delighted when I got there, that they had an allergy note next to my name.
Now, all courses come out on a sharing board with all the trimmings, which is a nightmare for cross contamination. However, they had prepared all of my food separately, you will see in the photos below (the one on the right is my gluten free roast as it came out, the one on the left is the sharing board). The only thing that isn’t gluten free are the obvious, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, and cauliflower cheese. I was pleased to see that they had separate gluten free gravy for me as well!
For Dessert, you have the choice of a raspberry and passion fruit pavlova or a chocolate brownie, served with tea and coffee – and for once, the chocolate brownie wasn’t gluten free, hooray! Again, this is normally served on a sharing board, but the gluten free dessert choice was the pavlova, and was served on a separate dish (the image on the right is my gluten free pavlova).
All of the food was incredible! The roast beef was cooked to perfection and was so tender, and the pavlova was just perfect!
I’m normally anxious whenever I eat anywhere new, in case staff don’t understand, or human error happens, but I felt so relaxed here knowing that they had my dietary requirements noted down. It is just a lovely dining experience, and is relaxing as you gaze out of the windows to the waterfront. You get quite a generous amount of food for your money as well, and it is really good value, I definitely recommend it!
