You may have seen the Nairn’s Biscuit Breaks in supermarket shelves for a while, and over recent months, they’ve created a chunky range of biscuits. For me, as a person who doesn’t really do biscuits, I’ve always been a huge fan of the Nairns range of biscuits, and they have been a snacking essential for me for a while, as the products are always a great all rounder.
Their newest addition to the chunky biscuit range is the Oats, Apple and Cinnamon flavour. They are available in Morrisons, Waitrose, and selected independent health food stores.
Currently I’m really enjoying these, and I’ve got a stash of them in my snack tub at home, so I hope you like them too! But if you haven’t seen them, here’s what’s to expect.
1. They’re chunky, which means that there’s less chance of them breaking and falling apart, like other gluten free biscuits.
I mean, I’ve lost count of how many packets of biscuits I’ve bought and once I’ve opened them, they’ve all fallen apart! It puts me off purchasing biscuits really. But like all of their chunky range, these aren’t as delicate, and can survive a trip in your bag as an emergency snack!
2. They taste like little pieces of hearty winter porridge.
Apple and cinnamon is a timeless flavour combination, especially in the winter months. Paired with the gluten free oats biscuit, it makes for a delicious snack to dunk in your tea on your lunch break!
3. They’re in little packs of three.
Okay, so I’m not really a biscuit person since I became gluten free, because I can never justify eating a full pack of gluten free ones to myself. And nobody ever accepts my offers when I share them out. I mean, come on, gluten free biscuits aren’t that bad! So having them in smaller packs of three is perfect for me, as I can just eat a little pack at a time and not have most of the pack going stale somewhere. I can also stuff them in my bag as a little emergency snack, great!
4. They have 50% less sugar than other gluten free biscuits.
I try to keep an eye on how much sugar I’m consuming, and over this upcoming festive season, I’m going to be eating a LOT of chocolates. So these are perfect for you or your pals, if you’re trying to keep an eye on the amount of sugar you eat.
5. They use sustainable palm fruit oil.
We all know how damaging palm oil production is to the environment. But Nairn’s use sustainable palm fruit oil. Whilst palm oil features in a lot of ingredients lists for gluten free food, and it’s hard to go completely palm oil free, buying products that use sustainable palm oil is still a step in the right direction! There’s a whole section dedicated to it on their website.
