GIFTED
Mrs Crimbles have been whipping up some great gluten free creations for many years now, well, since 1979 actually. I’m sure we have all seen their brownies and macaroons, as well as their savoury treats, and they’re absolutely great!
To add to their cake collection, they’ve recently brought out some delicious lunchbox loaf cakes! They come in two flavours, Jammy flavour and Double Chocolate. They are individually wrapped vanilla mini loaf cakes with a surprise filling in the centre.
They are only 129 calories per cake, and you can find them in Tesco for around £2.50 for a pack of five.
What I love about these is that they are individually wrapped, rather than encased all together. I’m the only coeliac in my house, and so when items aren’t individually wrapped, it puts me off as I don’t like to waste food. Being individually wrapped, they are perfect for the ‘emergency snack’ that us coeliacs have to bring with us when we go anywhere.
Mrs Crimbles kindly sent me some of these to try, and they are so yummy! They are made a soft and light sponge, which doesn’t crumble, and you honestly wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s gluten free.
Almost like a Twinkie (but better), the centre is generously filled with either the jam or chocolate filling, which I really enjoyed. They remind me of the ones I used to have in my school lunchbox as a kid.
Overall I really enjoy them, and I am so delighted to see their range expanding and getting better! What do you guys think?
