10 ‘Accidentally’ gluten free Christmas party foods in Tesco!

Friendsmas, Christmas and new year parties, or boxing day picky bits, it can be hard to find party food that’s gluten free and coeliac friendly! You can spend hours travelling to different supermarkets and checking labels for gluten, and even the Pesky May contain.

Aside from the usual all-year-round food you can get in the free from aisle, the Schar Curvies, festive crisps, and things like frozen pizza and antipasti , there’s also a bunch of party food available outside of the free from aisle. Those ‘accidentally gluten free’ items, lurking amongst the regular gluten free aisle.

I will admit, the selection available this year is nowhere near as extensive as it used to be in previous years, but still, it’s handy to know what is available this year.

So here is a short, but sweet list of some of those ‘accidentally’ gluten free Christmas party food bits amongst a couple of well known gluten free ones available in Tesco.

  1. 10 Satay Chicken Skewers (Frozen)
  2. 12 Mozarella Sticks (chilled)
  3. 56 Pork Cocktail sausages (Frozen)
  4. 10 Fiery green jalapeño peppers (Chilled)
  5. Plant Chef no-prawn Tempuras, Vegan (Frozen)
  6. 8 Ham and Cheese Croquettes (chilled)
  7. 8 Thai inspired prawn Snowballs (frozen)
  8. 24 Smoked Salmon Canapes  (chilled, the pack of 12 is also gluten free)
  9. Really? Mozzarella Sticks (Frozen)
  10. Schar mini calzone bites (frozen)

This list was correct at the time of publishing, with no gluten containing ingredients, or pesky may contain statements.

My top tip for gluten free food shopping this Christmas season would always be to check the ingredients, just in case anything changes, and if you’re ever unsure, avoid.

You can also subscribe to Coeliac UK’s membership, which gives you access to the gluten free food checker app ‘Live well, gluten free’ , so you can check barcodes of products to double check if they’re suitable.
