It’s the time of year when it’s Christmas for the next two months. And I’m okay with this. I mean, I’m writing this in October and it’s way too early to put your tree up, but it’s nice, stock up on things early, get your Christmas shopping done in good time. Oh, and get excited about all the new gluten free food that’s out and live off pure festive food for the rest of the year.
I took a trip to ASDA, (or THE ASDA, as I like to call it) and spotted a bunch of gluten free and dairy free festive snacks in the free from aisle! I made myself look like a total weirdo, photographing them all for you so I could share them on this here blog post. And here is what I saw!
Asda Free From Choc Selection. GF, DF, EF, VEGAN. £2.00
A great alternative to selection boxes, since a lot of packaging on chocolates have started appearing with ‘may contain’ and no longer safe for sentitive coeliacs like myself. These are also dairy free and vegan so make a great stocking filler for children who have dairy or egg allergies.
Extra Special Free From Gluten and Wheat All Butter Shortbread Selection. GF, EF £4.00
These are not dairy free but offer a great selection of gluten & egg free biscuits, and have three festive all butter flavours, such as maple syrup and pecan.
Free From Chocolate Lollipop. GF, DF, EF, VEGAN 89p
They have other little characters other than the reindeers, like snowmen! How cute!
Free From Chocolate, Cranberry and Orange Tiffins. GF, DF, EF, VEGAN £2.50
Tiffins are great and these ones are vegan too.
4 Mince Pies. GF, DF. £1.50
6 Gingerbread Santas. GF, DF.
I love the Asda gingerbread biscuits, and it’s nice that these are Santa ones! I forgot the price and couldn’t find the price online, but I don’t expect them to be that expensive.
Extra Special Free From Christmas Cake. GF, DF £6.50
This looks amazing, and is perfectly decorated for christmas day.
Extra Special Free From 6 Month Matured Christmas Pudding. GF. EF. £1.50
The little christmas pudding is gluten free, egg free, but not dairy free or suitable for vegans. It serves one, and would be prefect if you are the gluten free one, or if you need to pick something up last minute for your gluten free friend or family member.
Christmas Cookie Kit. GF, DF £3.00
Who doesn’t like making cookies? You have to add your own oil, water and egg to this mix, and it includes icing mix and decorations.
Free From Christmas pudding. GF, DF, EF, VEGAN. £3
Serving four, this Christmas pudding is rich and fruity, with a ‘festive’ glug of brandy, whatever that means.
Free From Cracker Selection. GF, DF. £3.49
Ahh, the classic cheese and crackers at christmas parties, that you can never usually eat… Well these should definitely make an appearance along with some dairy free cheese.
Extra Special Free From Luxury Yule Log. GF DF. £4.50
‘Yule’ all love this, as the yule log is made with sumptuously smooth Belgian chocolate, and it’s dairy free too!
Roddy the Reindeer Cake. GF, DF. £6
Everyone’s favourite party cake has turned festive and is back for another year! Roddy the reindeer cake is milk free, chocolatey and delicious.
Extra Special Belgian White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies, Belgian Triple Chocolate Cookies, and Salted Caramel Shortbread Biscuits. GF £1.80
I’m not sure if these are specifically festive, but I haven’t seen them before, and they feel festive-y, so would be great to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve with some milk and a carrot for Rudolph.
Free From Iced Christmas Cake. GF. £2.60
Glace cherries, citrus peel and juicy sultanas, what more could you want in a christmas cake? Perfect for those avoiding alcohol and great for sharing.
Asda Extra Special Giant Pig in Blanket. GF, DF, EF. £5.00
According to it, this bad boy serves 10. We’ll see how that goes…
Asda Free From Chocolate Penguins. GF, DF, VEGAN. £2.75
Like an easter egg, but with penguins! This is sure to go down well with the little ones as a stocking filler.
Asda Free From Chocolate Coins. GF, DF, VEGAN £1
Asda Extra Special Free From Truffle Collection. GF, DF, VEGAN £4.50
Asda party Ice cream Yule Log. GF £2.00
This is one of those ‘accidentally gluten free’ products and is in the frozen section with all the festive party food. There’s quite a selection of free from party food, but that’s another blog post for another time. I’ll be honest, it looks amazing!
So there you have it, I have probably missed some things off, but each store has different stock. If you can’t see these items in your local one, give them a tweet and I’m sure they will get back to you with a list of stores nearest to you that stock them, And likewise, if I have missed anything off, feel free to share below in the comments.
As always, thank you for reading!
