So, the time has come for supermarkets, cafe’s and general food places to change up their menu a little bit, in time for autumn/winter. And the new products also don’t stop coming either.
I’ve noticed a bunch of new products in the likes of Starbucks, Costa, Asda and Tesco recently. And I thought that I must share them with you if you haven’t seen them already.
So Starbucks. The PSL is back, and contains no gluten in it’s ingredients, despite it not being vegan or dairy free, I am happy to have this back. I try and keep my dairy intake minimal, as I get really bad breakouts. So I will certainly be getting a grande to keep me through Friday night shifts at work.
What else is new at Starbucks? Well not much. BUT for the coeliacs who are on the go, early doors, there is a new oatmeal available. The Five Grain oatmeal contains soya & coconut cream and is enriched with oats, quinoa with a touch of cinnamon. The oats in this are gluten free, and there is a little GF symbol on the top of the pot to let you know.
Buttermilk Chicken and Mango Salad. This has brown rice, black rice and quinoa, with a chipotle dressing which sounds so good!
If you need to double check (especially with brownie gate), there is a full ingredients list with allergy information HERE
Costa have a new Chicken Caesar wrap available, for those who aren’t fans of their salads. I haven’t seen the gluten free sandwich available for a long time however. With that being said, it is SOUP SEASON YAY! And they have Pea and Ham and Tomato & Basil soups now on offer, both gluten free.
Now for the news people have been dying to hear. JUVELA BREAD IS AVAILABLE IN TESCO.
Their white/fibre rolls and loaves are now available in Tesco. They are a great source of calcium, fibre and folic acid. So it’s nice to see gluten free bread having nutritional benefits, especially if you have coeliac disease and various nutritional deficiencies like me.
Schar have also got new things hitting the shelves in Tesco, with WAFFLES (holy cow, waffles!! ) that you just pop in the toaster. And a new deli style seeded loaf with chia, sunflower and linseeds. How very grand!
Whilst we’re on the subject of Tesco, and I am typing this, I have just seen on Twitter that there are GLUTEN FREE DOUGHNUTS available in a pack of 6 from the freezer section. There is also a new macaroni and cheese ready meal, which is also vegan, and very comforting indeed! AND if that’s not enough, there is a new gluten free and dairy free choocolate gateau!
Also in Asda, I found NEW PUFF PASTRY. This is gluten free, and in the chiller section, for £1.85 it’s fab. No dairy is listed in the ingredients, or egg. So it’s great for vegan bakes too!
I hear there are gluten free sleigh bells in Sainsbury’s too, but it’s only September, I will not post about Christmas stuff until Halloween is over.
So that was a bunch of new stuff that I’ve seen while I’ve been out and about. If I have missed something, please let me know!
